How many of you have felt like “I am proud to be an Indian” while standing on the border of India and Pakistan. Be it the Wagah Border or the Rajasthan border near Sam Sand dunes which are about 50 KM from Jaisalmer. Last year on our trip to Rajasthan, we visited the Sam Sand Dune border area. The serenity of the desert and the slow breeze of the evening made it a die-for-moment. As we parked our cars in the BSF camp and looked at the sun going down at the horizon, in that moment of silence when we saw the Pakistani posts, there was a sense of pride in us. Though, none spoke a word coz no words could describe the feeling. There is something about India that makes you feel different. People on the other side might feel the same about their nation but there is a difference. We all know what that country is going through, yet it never ceases to make up their mind and for once, try to make peace. Even if we dont go by the words of media, we know it is there.
As the darkness settled, we bid farewell to the soldiers, exchanged some smiles and laughs. Today, as I read in the newspapers about the ceasefire violations in Kashmir area and deaths of soldiers and civilians, there is a certain anger developing inside me. I mean, we allow the artists of that country to come here and perform and earn a livelihood which they were not getting there. Former cricketers coming here as commentators. Even if they take side of their home country in matches, we do not utter a word coz we have that spirit in us which makes us stand apart. This is the greatness of a nation.
Yet, we are termed as killers and are pointed at. Politically, I aligned to no one but anyone who can take care of our nation and its people. I may be an outcast who doesn’t believe in borders or differentiates between people across this earth, but I cannot tolerate the killing done by the neighboring nation on the people who have done no harm to them. They were given a land and they should be happy with it. Kashmir is an integral part of India. Just like Delhi, Assam, Karnataka or Orissa, it was, is and will always be a part of India. But, then I also hear some people asking for an independent Kashmir. I understand they are fed up of the army rule and rest of the stuff, but again it is for their safety right? When they were hit with floods, I have seen people across India rushing for help. Sending everything they could.And we also know what was happening across the LOC. Are you blind? No one is happy. Everyone wants something extra. The desire that kills you from inside and makes you inhuman.
Then I hear my peers speaking about peace and raising questions on Modi or the Indian Army for firing back and retaliating to the violation of ceasefire. I haven’t seen more dumb and fucked up people. They have a problem with everything. If you want peace talks, pls get up, go to the border and try to talk. Go and do it once. What’s the difference between Billawal and you? He says we are acting like the Israel. I say, its good we are. That small country is an ideal country. Surrounded by enemies at all sides, it is still on the map and the strongest nation ever. They are fighting for survival and so are we. They have a land which others want to grab, same here. So why should we act differently. If I go by these people, we should fold our hands and ask others to have some mercy and let them take whatever they want. In life, one has to make hard decisions and stand by it. So, stop fucking yourselves and realize it as soon as possible that no idiot has the right to enter our nation and take whatever they want. Do you allow some stranger to enter your home? This is an old question, I know and the answer is no.. I know..
So it’s high time to stand up and be like Israel if we have to.. Coz sometimes, offense is good for health.
